The role of the Skills Development Facilitator (SDF)

This course is designed to assist people in education, training and development to identify skills gaps and develop a workplace skills plan (WSP) for the training needed. It provides a guidance to compile an annual training report (ATR) for submission to the SETA (Sector Education Training Authority).

Any person that is responsible for the planning of their operations Skills Development plan
Assessment required for competency.
- Collate and store data related to skills development and provide information related to skills development.
- Contribute to the improvement of systems and procedures related to processing skills development data.
- Prepare for information gathering and gathering information on learners.
- Carrying out a basic skills audit.
- Compiling a report on the target audience and skills gaps.
- Explain the outcomes-based approach to education and training;
- Describe the National Qualifications Framework.
- Describe and explain standards; national qualifications.
- Develop a broad plan for implementing the NQF within an organisation.
- Provide information related to skills development, including relevant legislation, learning and assessment.
- Advise an organisation concerning the alignment of skills development practices to the information provided.
- Advise on the promotion of skills development.
- Prepare, recruit and select suitable candidates according to ability and potential within an organisation and through the personnel recruitment industry.
- Analysing education, training and development needs of members of a unit.
- Recording the results of the training needs analysis.
- Compiling a people development plan for a work unit.
- Managing the implementation of a people development plan for a unit.
